Premiere 2020 not playing back MP3’s or Wav’s
Window’s 10, AJA IO express
IMPORTANT: Setup worked fine before upgrading to 2020. In fact, going back to PP2019 it still works.
Problem: No MP3 or Wav output sound on the source side (playhead moves, and meters move, but no sound output). But if that same clip is cut into the timeline, it will play on the timeline side just fine. This is all through the AJA IO express. The meters move in both situations- but no sound on the source playback.
Other Info: changing playback to desktop instead of AJA- all is fine. That leads me to believe its the AJA, but it will play the file in the timeline. I’ve updated drivers. Still no go. And it will play video files with sound on the source side. It will play bars and tone generated by PP2020.

Hi Steve,
Yeah, it definitely has to be something wrong with the card. I had the same problem and took out my Blackmagic card and everything worked fine. I’m just monitoring through headphones straight out of the workstation for now until the problem gets resolved.

Not sure, but are all clips 48 Khz?
If not, render to 48 Khz, try again.Bouke

Here’s an update- problem solved. I had cleared the media cache database, I hadn’t cleared the actual media in the folder. At the suggestion of Adobe, I did that and it now works. I thought clearing the media cache database did that- but it doesn’t, you have to go to the folders and do it.
