Premiere – Sudden Slow-Down on Play Back & Exports
Have been using current MacBook (2015) model daily for video making since summer of 2016. Never had any issues. About a week ago I suddenly noticed problems with playback in some projects and also that exports were taking exponentially longer across all my projects (one five minute video took 17 hours, which is nuts). Reducing playback quality didn’t help. Some projects are completely unwatchable. Again nothing about these projects is any different to anything I’ve been working on for the last few years.
Exporting in both Premiere and Media Encoder causes same problems. Bringing an export back into Premiere and sending it out again is lightning quick as it should be.
Weirdly if the Global Mute FX button is enabled when playing clips that have been rendered (grade done in Magic Bullet Looks) it stutters massively at best, or won’t play at worst.
Currently I’ve updated my Mac OS, deleted cache in Premiere, moved projects to a brand new external hard drive (LaCie 2 TB Thunderbolt) and cleaned out general files and junk across my MacBook. No difference.
Any advice?
It’s killing my workflow and getting me behind with work for clients.
Nothing has changed in how I shoot or work recently, bar purchasing and installing Red Giant’s Denoiser a few weeks ago. Bar that I’m throwing nothing new at these projects.
