  • workflow: color correction done on older project file to new project

    Rushing to get a film ready for its premiere, I handed off a project to a friend to done some color correction with Lumertri (mostly to Master clips, but some on individual clips as well). Unfortunately, there wasn’t time to leave the project untouched, so I’m now working from a new project file. The biggest changes are to audio organization and the opening & closing of the film.

    Now that I have picture lock, I’d like to have his color correction and the changes I made to the project in one timeline. So what’s the best way to go about this? If nothing else, it would be great to have his work to the Master clips.

    So, is there reasonable way to do this? Thanks for any help!!

    backup prproj
    offline all picture media in “locked” seq
    import colored seq
    allow import of dupe media
    remove color attributes of “locked” seq
    relink media

    I would try that or some variation of that to see if you can get the master color effects to link to the locked seq.

    realistically, pancaking the two seqs and moving over the looks manually is likely the best option…

    hope some of that helps

    Thank you for that. I played around with it a few ways, but got inconsistent results (and basically a mess). So, I’m going w/ your “pancake” idea. Love the name, btw!!

    Thanks!!!
