Mixing Footage 23.976 fps and 29.97 fps With no laggy Motion
Hi, I am mixing 23.976 fps and 29.97 fps and the final output should be at 1080p with 23.976 or 24 fps look, any format possible without any sudden drop frame.
Footages: I have 6 footages in total but we can just focus with these two for troubleshoot
- 0003.MTS /fps: 23. 976/Type: MPEG Movie/Video Codec Type: AVCHD H.264 4:2:0
- MVI_7816.MOV/fps: 29.97/Type: MPEG Movie /Video Codec Type: MP4/MOV H.264 4:2:0 (Full Range)
The footage 0003.MTS becomes after export with my sequence settings set to 23.976. On the other hand, when I set my sequence fps to 24 fps, 0003.MTS becomes smooth but there are drop frames somewhere on the other cuts of the final footage.
I used Media Encoder for final render and set my settings to “Match the source” as my display.

How exactly are you thinking this could work?
If you have to remove 6 frames every second, what do you think will happen?Why is it so important to have 23.976 output? 23.976 is invented to go to 24 for old fashioned 35mm (obsolete now), and to speed up to 25 for broadcast in Europe, and (with addded pulldown) to broadcast in NTSC countries.
Now, is your project going to be broadasted all over the world? If not, stick at 29.97, add NORMAL pulldown to the 23.976 and de-interlace the output if you are going to the web.
