Premiere not excepting choice of where to add new audio track
For some reason when I go to add audio tracks under > sequence > add tracks. Premiere is not accepting my request of where to place the new audio track, but instead puts it before track 1. For example, if I choose to add an audio track with the selection—after track 5, it puts it before track 1. Happens every time I try to add a track in this project, no matter what track I choose to add after. Any ideas?
And note: I opened a new (test) project and the feature works just fine. So it’s for sure related to this project. Thanks.

First thing I ask is whether or not you have the desired timeline track “patched” (highlighted). You can’t direct media to an unpatched track.
Second, particularly with audio, is the track characteristics (mono, stereo, etc.) and the media characteristics may be mis-matched.

Thanks for the reply. But let me clarify. I don’t mean I can’t add audio, I mean literally a new track in the timeline. When I go to add a new audio track and specify, for example, to place it “after track 10” in the drop down, premiere ignores the request and places it above track 1. See what I mean?

Yes, it’s the latest release via creative cloud. Hmmm.

Since it doesn’t seem to affect new sequences, can you just cut/paste everything into a new sequence? (or even everything into a new project). I’m guessing this is an upgraded project that’s behaving strangely.

Yes it’s an upgraded project. So is there a way to paste into a new project? That’s an idea. It’s a feature length documentary, though, that’s fully rendered. :/
