  I don’t want Youtube to automatically reduce video noise on my videos

  I don’t know if this is the right section of the forum, but I’m curious to know if there’s any way to avoid the automatic noise reduction in Youtube.com.
  I find it very annoying! I use a lot of 8mm and 16mm footage and grain is an integral part of my videos.

  Grain/noise doesn’t deal with compression that well. If this is really important to you I’d look for another service to host your videos.

  I’ve never heard of this happening, and I can’t find any info for it online. Does YouTube really apply an automatic noise-reduction to video?

  I don’t think YouTube is doing anything special. This sounds like perfectly normal, heavy-handed compression.

  Completely agree, noise doesn’t translate well into the low bitrate codec that YouTube will stream back out, which is why I would never, ever, ever add something like film grain that is going to live on any streaming platform. It’s counter-productive.
