    I just finished assembling a new PC:
    Mobo: Gibabyte Z390 Aorus Master
    CPU: Intel i9-9900K (8 CORE, 3.6 GHz (5.0 GHz TURBO), 16 MB CACHE
    GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2070, 8 GB Dual Fan (ARMOR)
    RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM 2666 (PC4 21300)
    System Disc: Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 500GB Internal SSD – M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x 4, NVMe
    Project Disk: Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 1 TB Internal SSD – M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4, NVMe
    Scratch Disk: Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 1 TB Internal SSD – M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4, NVMe
    Storage: BARRACUDA PRO 3.5 INT HDD, 10 TB
    Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OEM – build: 17763.
    Adobe Premiere Pro v. 13.1
    I do NOT feel 100% satisfied with the performance of this PC when running Adobe Premiere Pro.
    In the Export settings there is no Hardware Acceleration available even though the internal graphics setting in the BIOS is enabled.
    While Export(ing), 1920×1080, the GPU usage averages around 30% while CPU usage is close to 100%.
    Playback settings has GPU acceleration (CUDA) enabled yet during playback some frames are dropped (about 10 to 50 frames) for a 5 min. sequence with only a few effects and transitions.
    My question(s):
    Is Frame dropping to be expected during HD playback for this PC?
    Why is Internal Graphics usage not available for exporting?
    Is GPU only used during playback and not much for exporting?
    I have spent a lot of time YouTubing looking for answers, any help will be greatly appreciated.

    What format of video are you working with? Codec, container…all that. Stored on a SINGLE drive, or a RAID of drives? Internal drives?

    your subject made me think, oh, he’s gonna say a good thing, tricked me!
    CUDA is only used for a few effects, scaling, max bit depth. 99% of stuff is CPU as decoding of video is still done as a cpu process. the ability to playback h.264 or heavily compressed video inside premiere would require a 7ghz proc that doesn’t exist. I think davinci is optimized better for this though. you may would to look at proxies for video. the pugetsystems website lists what your system can do.

    -as you can see, 16fps is max!

    update your video drivers from the manufacturer, not microsoft.

    Thank you for the information. From your comments, it seems that purchasing a high performance (expensive) GPU or GPUs does not provide a great gain in video processing power. I am working with h.264 & .mp4 settings for exporting. What I would like to know now is why I do not see “Hardware encoding” available on the Export Settings and therefore the Intel Internal Graphics functionality not being utilized? Thank you again. I will look into the suggested article/link you posted.

    What is your editable file format?
    Are you editing h264 files or ProRes or DNxHD or……
    That is usually the breakdown in most NLEs.
