  Iris-in effect (not as a transition)

  Dear friends,

  I’m excited! I’ve been using pieces of advice from this forum for years, and now is my first time to actually post a question.

  I would like to create an “Iris In” effect on a logo.
  So that most of the screen goes black but not all of it. I would then hold the Iris’d in image (logo) for a few seconds before the video fades to black.

  I did a very simple sketch, using crop effect and keyframing it: https://f1.creativecow.net/12994/12994
  However, it doesn’t look as professional and awesome as I would like it to be.

  What would you suggest?
  Is it even possible to do in Premiere, or should I get my hands on After Effects?

  Also, I’m not sure what transition I should use to switch between the video and the graphic. Morph cut didn’t work well.

  Use the crop effect.

  Definitely After Effects, it’s much easier to control. You could animate a mask however you like.
  Maybe just a quick dissolve between the video and logo? Maybe you could run a subtle light sweep over the graphic right after the dissolve for extra flair.
