  • Why does Motion > Position effect blur exported video?

Posted by Martin Petrak on October 5, 2018 at 5:51 pm

My clips need to be horizontally and vertically centered.

It is digitized VHS which have overscans on all 4 sides. I use Crop for masking them. Each side of video has different overscan – different crop size. Without centering the black frame is not uniform.

But when I use Motion > Position effect and center my clip horizotally and vertically, exported video is unsharped, blurred.

How to center the clips without that blur?

Source video is DV from canopus.

    Thank You.

When you position horizontally, make sure to use increments of 2, or even increments, no decimal points either.

That did the trick (increments of 2). Many many many thanks.

Basically keep the lower fields with the lower fields and the upper fields with the upper. That’s just one of those things we had to put up with in the old days of SD.
    Glad it helped!
