  Source patching issues

  Hi, I’m on Premiere Pro’18, on windows. And the source patching issue drives me nuts.
  For some reason the newest audio tracks get assigned oto the track a8 with the source patch a1. as I try to move source up, or assign any other track for the inserts and overwrites, it still brings me there, source A1 being on the track A8. How can I change it?
  How do you organize and assign the sources to tracks in general? It seems that all my other tracks lost the ability of having source patches at all. Where did they go? how to bring them back? I even tried deleting all empty tracks (i want to have 6) but it still for some reason creates tracks 7 & 8 and puts new audio on track 8, without a chance of moving it anywhere else.

  Grab the A1 on the left and move it up.
