What is the difference in net result between selecting all clips on a timeline and raising the gain by say 5dB vs. routing all tracks to a submix track and raising that track’s volume by 5dB?

So I have one expert’s opinion saying “no difference in net result” and second expert’s opinion saying “the mix will be heard differently”.
Waiting for the third one to decide… ????.

If you route all of the tracks to a submix the sound will be a bit muddier. At the very least you’ll lose the ability to tweak the individual tracks. I think. I’m guessing here. I have no idea.
