  MPEG-2 export issue – can’t go over 1088 x1088

  I am trying to export 2K planetarium frames to MPEG-2 format but I can’t export over 1088 x 1088 and can’t convert the 2056×2056 mp4 to and mp2 in Encoder either, it defaults back to 1088.

  Is there any way to get around this?

  Why are you exporting to MPEG-2? What’s your goal?

  MPEG-2 is most often used to encode DVDs, which must comply with DVD standards, which are limited to SD resolution at only 640×480 or 720×480 in the NTSC world, or, 640×576 and 720×576 in the PAL world.

  Thank you for your reply! Yes, I thought it was something like that because I saw MPG2-DVD and Bluray and the resolution constraints would make sense. I believe it is the format that it accepted by the Planetarium software, but perhaps there are other formats that are acceptable that I am unaware of.

  However, I was asked to export MPG2 so I’m trying to find a workaround.

  For now, I have exported H.264 MP4 then using a convertor to change the files into MP2… not sure if that’s very effective or efficient.

  I hope Adobe makes a stand alone batch rendering software… I guess Encoder is supposed to work like that.

  Mpeg2 does not go beyond 1920×1080 (1088×1088).
  Maybe you should convince the client to use a more common format which support higher and odd frame dimensions such as mp4.

  You can batch convert with AME.
