  Panasonic GH5 Footage 4K 10Bit error in Premier Pro

  I have read a lot of threads online and haven’t found a fix yet for this issue.

  I got the new Panasonic GH5 and have been filming in the 4K 10Bit. Once I pull it into premier, premier just crashes. I adjusted the playback settings and still doesn’t work.

  Anyone found an answer or update to this?

  …I know adobe is working on it, but would love to edit some test footage today.

  as far as I know, not even davinci supports it yet. you can transcode to dnxhd, prores, cineform for a digital intermediate.

  Hi Tim,

  Chris is correct. The GH5 10bit format is not supported in the current release of Premiere (2017.1). Sorry, crashing shouldn’t happen though.

  HI Peter,
  Thank you again for your response. Very appreciated. When I bring the footage in, its ok sometimes. But once It goes into the timeline the whole program crashes everytime. I have tried it with a few different sequence settings as well. No Dice.

  Any workarounds on this for now?

  Convert all your 10-bit footage to prores 4:2:2 on import is what others are telling me.

  New Adobe Premier Pro 2017 Updates as of June 18 2017 now support the Lumix GH5 4K 10bit Video files.

  I ran some test with it. Normal Import works perfect. Dropdown into timeline works. Rendering into H.264 MP4 and various other encodings is legit.

  Just curious @chrisking Do you have a recommended Playback for the sequence settings on this? Or is the Regular Mpeg fine?
