I have received 1920×1080 footage from my client shot on a C300 Mark II. It is MXF (AVC-intra). To work with it on previous projects I had to transcode to ProRes, otherwise I could not get it to play in sync with audio, or playback would be choppy. I certainly couldn’t do any multicam edits.

My client now wants me to take a project over from someone else who has worked with the client’s footage natively in MXF. Can anyone help me understand why I can’t get it to play smoothly? I will need to get it to do so to take on this next project that has to be done in MXF.

I have 24GB RAM on a Mac 4,1 quad core 2.26 cheese grater with a nVideo GeForce 770 (macvidcards flashed) running the most recent driver and CUDA driver on Premiere Pro CC2017.

That is a really old system. I doubt it will allow for GPU acceleration. Having sad that did you try playback at 1/2 resolution?

Doesn’t matter if it’s full, half or quarter

Media is on an internal RAID. And previews are on the SSD.
