DVC-WOAH HD
Posted by Nicholas Toth on August 7, 2006 at 12:42 pmHey guys. Just got some footage off a HVX-200, off the P2 card. Its a 720/60p quicktime file, and it will open in After Effects, or FCP. However quicktime does not like the file. Do I need a codec to open this in quicktime? I just can’t seem to figure it out.
I know its an AE forum, but I’m usually posting here and I didn’t know where else to ask.

August 7, 2006 at 1:31 pmIf you are using OSX 10.3 or above the HVX200 footage will work natively without any codec installation. If your version of Quicktime is older than version 7, you might run into problems. I’ve had no trouble with HVX200 footage and I’m running Quicktime 7 so that may be your issue. I wouldn’t think if you can view it in FCP you’d be having problems. Try trashing your Quicktime preferences or upgrading your version and see what that does for you. Is your issue an export issue? Will it not play once you’ve exported out from FCP or AE?

August 7, 2006 at 3:38 pmIts strange because in FCP it will play, and it will play in AE, but it just won’t play in quicktime.
I’m using quicktime v7.1.2 pro, in os 10.4.7. -

August 7, 2006 at 5:07 pmThat I don’t know. It was burnt to a DVD and sent to me.
I think I’ll just convert through compressor. -

August 7, 2006 at 5:10 pmThat would probably be the safest way to go. I have never had anything brought in from HVX200 via DVD but I have done it straight from the camera and had no problems playing it back. If the compressor conversion doesn’t work, you might check Panasonic’s web site for any software or plug-in downloads that might help. Good luck.
