  • Suggestions for Graphics Card Upgrade

Posted by Jd Huitt on July 6, 2016 at 2:15 am

I posted on here awhile back about some issues that I was having when trying to apply Magic Bullet Looks to some 4K footage in Premiere Pro. After contacting Red Giant, it turns out that I am in need of a graphics card upgrade. The reply that I got back from them said, “Magic Bullet Looks requires a minimum of a 6000 series ATI card and at least 1GB of VRAM for HD footage. For 4K footage, Looks requires you to have at least 2GB of VRAM.”

I have an early 2009 Mac Pro. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a graphics card that would work with my system and meet the above requirements?

    Thanks!

This is your best and almost only remaining solution at this point.

i love macs, but it would be a lot easier to upgrade graphics cards if you had a PC.

I’ve found the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 to quite good but I’d have to agree that the Saphire is probably your best option.

GTX 680 Mac Edition are no longer on the market, and used ones are even tough to find now. That’s why OWC, who sell more Mac upgrades than any other reseller, are now selling the Saphire model I mentioned above.
