  • removing side black bars from a vertically oriented video

    I created a video in premiere cs6.
it is basically a vertical video with black bars on the sides from cropping that i did.
i do not want to save the black bars. i just want to save the vertical video piece.
    is this possible?
i tried to see if i could change the sequence settings but everything was deselected and unchangeable.

Very first field on the Sequence Settings screen is “Editing Mode”. Set this custom and then set whatever output dimensions you want.

can you be more specific as to what you mean about codec and media container?
    thanks

because for some reason as i have it now, when i type in custom project settings of 810 pixel horiz by 1080 pixels vertical, it is making a square frame. which makes no sense to me.

If you want to make a vertical video out of a landscape timeline you also need to crop the video in the source tab of the export settings.

What are your seqeunce settings, clip propeties and export settings, and Post a screenshot of the program window.
