Adobe CC 2016.3 update
Posted by Chris Paul on June 21, 2016 at 6:47 pmAs usual, be careful with updates and do not do them unless you have plenty of time to troubleshoot and never during a project. In my case, the latest Sapphire plugins do not work, scratch discs were reset and no previous project would open without freezing Premiere. You might want to read that last bit again. I am working around this by creating new projects and importing the previous projects into them.

June 21, 2016 at 6:50 pmNot sure what they did, but playing back 4k files on my older Mac Pro is a lot smoother now. I used to have to go to 1/4 resolution to get somewhat smooth playback and now I can playback at full res. Good job Adobe!

June 21, 2016 at 6:51 pmWow! Thanks for the heads up, Chris.
I was just thinking about going home and updating tonight. Probably need to finish my project first 😉

June 21, 2016 at 7:40 pmAnother concern is Lumetri LUTs in the Lumetri Color Control. These have been changed, re-arranged and streamlined. To me, they are now much better. But, if you have an older project that you open in the new version – and you used a lot of these LUTs – many will come up missing. Before losing the previous version of Premiere, open the application package (on a Mac, Show Package Contents) and navigate to Lumetri – LUTs. Then copy the three folders to another location on your hard drive. Now if you open an old sequence and a LUT is missing, you can navigate to the right option from before using the Browse command.

June 21, 2016 at 10:13 pmLooking forward to the Lumetri updates most. (and that smoother 4k playback someone mentioned.
I have found every other release to be stable for me….i think this one should be hahah.
But I always clone a system disk update first just to be sure.

June 21, 2016 at 11:26 pmAnyone know if the Boris products like Continuum V9, are compatible with today major Adobe CC update? The new CC features are great, but no point updating if the plugins don’t work.

I’m running BCC10 and it’s fine. Not sure about BCC9.

I’d rather wait and buy the Box Set upgrade. Guess I’ll upgrade Adobe and take a chance….

June 22, 2016 at 3:59 pmAnyone having issues with mercury transmit? Playing to a desktop is fine but I’m unable to ouput a signal through my Blackmagic Studio 4K to the flanders monitor.

June 22, 2016 at 4:25 pmMercury Transmit Playback through my Blackmagic 4K Extreme is the same as before RE: it works with Blackmagic sequences but not with some source formats like Sony XAVC. Seems to be a driver issue as it does work with my Matrox MXO2. I use the Blackmagic mainly because it works with DaVinci Resolve.
