burning for tv, mac and pc
Hi everybody, I’ve just finished my first dvd, or at least thought I had. i used mpeg 2 for exporting too encore but it won’t read on a pc with the standard media player, can anyone tell me what export setting from premiere pro to encore I need, so it will read on tv,mac and pc.
Also I’m told that dvd players are multi standard , therefore an ntsc version is not required, is that true.

Not all versions of Windows support DVD playback with Windows Media Player out-of-the-box, especially Windows 8, and some versions of Windows 7. https://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-media-player-plug-ins This is simply to reduce licensing costs for Microsoft.
Download VLC player and play your DVD from there on Windows to confirm it’s not a bad disc burn or some exotic problem.
Also, although DVD players may be able to play both PAL and NTSC variant’s, don’t count on them to and don’t count on a TV understanding the signal. Author for each region separately as needed.

It seems that most PAL DVD players will play NTSC DVDs, but not the other way around.
Regarding the DVD encode, in AME you want to specifically use “MPEG-2 DVD”, and at a bit rate that will allow your footage to fit the disc. If your file is too large, or an incorrect format, then Encore will “transcode” the clip automatically to meet DVD spec, so encoding should not be a part of any incompatibility of the final DVD.
Use a good quality DVD-R and try the disc on a set-top DVD player, or VLC on PC as mentioned in the other post.
