whiteboard video workflow

I’m creating the individual scenes in AE, but I was wondering what the best workflow would be to move smoothly from scene to scene and end up with a final pullback to reveal all the drawings. My best guess is creating a master template using all the scenes collaged together with all the position changes & timing, then plugging the ‘drawn-on’ scenes into that template so they match position. Any other thoughts or ideas? I’m pretty comfortable with AE, but fairly new to Premiere. Thanks!
