Clips in program monitor not linking to timeline attributes.
I was hoping this would have been updated in the CC version. Basically if I change the name of a clip that’s in the project panel I want the name to ripple through to the sequence that clip resides in. Right now it treats them as being independent even though they are linked. If I delete the clip from the project panel it will also be deleted from the timeline so at least it respects that linkage just nothing else. Unless someone knows something that I don’t. This is odd behavior since FCP and avid do not function in this manner. I know I will post another feature request. Except I requested this over a year and a half ago. At least some request are being considered as seen in the recent 7.1 update.

Many a time I’ve wished that FCP didn’t work the way it does. Such as when I’ve wanted to put different names on sequence clips that all come from the same source clip.
In any case, this behavior is fundamental to the architecture of the editing app. Even if they wanted to, I suspect a software engineer couldn’t change the design of these linkages without a complete rebuild of the app. from the ground up.
Which isn’t to say that one couldn’t create a function for finding all occurrences of a clip in a sequence and replacing the name.
You do know that as of now in PrPro you can right click on clip in the timeline and select Rename? It’s far from what you are wishing for but it may get you part of the way there.

The thing is you can do that in FCP. All you have to do is select the clips in the timeline, right click and select make independent. At that point it’s no longer linked and you can rename or even relink to different media without effecting the original clip in the bin.
Maybe at some point Adobe will add the option for how clips link with each over. It’s hard to imagine that it would take a ground up rewrite approach to the software. But I know nothing about programming.
