  EX-1 & Premiere 6 – Workflow (re-wrap in .MOV, or not ?)

  This is a new thread that has stemmed from another thread as questions evolved, so.

  So I imported footage from EX-1, using Sony Clip Browser. Footage shot 1080p, 29.97, 35VBR. Wrapped it in .MOV, and now several days editing in Premiere. Yes, I now know that you do not need to ‘re-wrap it, but if I was editing in .mp4 – would it really matter? I’m informed that QT is ’32 bit’, but I’d like to ask: Does this re-wrap make for a little longer rendering or exporting? I’m a former FCP7 editor, so this is probably a habit that I was used to. I know Adobe edits everything native, but in terms of a ‘re-wrap’, is this a “no-no” in normal Premiere workflow or not? Are we talking ‘tons’ of time saved or sort of not? I do not have the Quadro 4000 yet, so no CUDA at the moment. Editing has been very smooth so far, no issues at all. Exports tend to be a little long, but it’s not bad.

  I just am not sure if it’s worth importing, re-aligning, and replacing all the time-lines with mp4 assets, rather than .mov assets. I might just remember to make this a learning experience, and to do this on the next edit.
