I am editing with Adobe CS4. I am capturing video from a DVCPro tape using a Blackmagic capture card for a television ministry.

However, the video file that results from the capture is a 30 GB .avi file. When I try to edit this, and combine clips from another video I run into some problems that appear to be resource related.

I believe the root cause may be the large file sizes I am dealing with.

Is there a setting I am overlooking that would allow the captured file to be in a compressed format rather than .avi?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

There is no easier format then avi to edit with.
Solution is to capture in smaller chunks.
