  Moving from FCP7: Is there a shortcut for ripple delete of an in & out point?

  So I’ve been a FCP editor for about 7 years now, and my company is recently making the switch over to Premiere CS6. I’m pretty much at a loss with the interface. Not a fan of it at all!

  I’m mostly a keyboard based editor, and I’m having the hardest time matching my FCP default shortcuts to Premiere. I immediately changed the default shortcuts over to FCP in Premiere, but it doesn’t carry over all of them.

  Basically, my life line in editing is a ripple delete. I’m editing a ton of screencasts and it saves me a bunch of time having shortcuts that work. In FCP, I would use Control+V to cut, UP arrow to go back, hit the X key to select the clip, and then the Forward Delete key to make a ripple delete.

  I’ve finally gotten the shortcuts set in Premiere to match this, except when I go to hit the Forward Delete key…nothing happens. I tried changing this shortcut a bunch of times. I noticed that if I use my actual mouse to select the clip it Ripple Delete’s just fine. So I’m not sure what I’m missing. Anyone have any idea what the proper shortcut would be for this?

  The extract command might do what you want. Activate the tracks you want, select in and out and extract.
