  CS6 PrPro performance on MacBook

  I have just upgraded to CS6 on my MacBook Pro which has the Nividia card.
  Do I need to do anything to take advantage of the mercury playback engine? My first test seems to run better than before.

  Mac Book Pro 2.6, quad i7, 8 GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB, OS X Lion 10.7.5
  Thunderbolt Promise raid drive

  650M is supported by Pr 6.02/03, so I’d just confirm you have “MPE GPU acceleration” in project settings, and if so, you’re all set.

  The acceleration should be on by default if you have a supported card in your system. Check the project settings like Alex said.

  I checked the project settings but it is greyed out. I says “Mercury playback engine software only”
  How can I enable it?
  It does however have very good playback in real time at 1/2 rez setting. I took a clip and applied a B&W filter to the background then key framed a blur. At the same time I over layed another clip at half size applied a bevel and keyframed motion across the screen and it all plays smooth.
  At full rez playback it does stutter. This seems pretty good for a MacBook!

  What version Premiere Pro (6.0? 6.03?), NVidia CUDA driver are you running?

  I am running PrPro 6.0.0
  CUDA 5.0.36 however when I checked I noticed an update is available.
  After running the update I now have CUDA 5.0.37
  The render option is still greyed out, but I can’t complain about the performance. It is great!
  So I can assume its working at its best?

  Update CS. Premiere Pro should be 6.03.

  OK no that I have updated PRPro & the Nvidia driver I can access the menu drop down.
  Which of the 3 options is best for my system?
  I would guess CUDA.
