switching premier files from 2008 macbook to 2012 windows
Hi
Sorry if I’m asking a stupid question here but I’m in the middle of changing systems from my old dying 2008 macbook, to a new alien ware windows pc.
My only issue is how switching all my old premier project files ( and attached files) will work on the new computer.
I suppose its also worth mentioning I’ll be going from using CS4 on the Mac to CS6 on the Windows system, although that shouldn’t ewff4ect the transition that much.Agains sorry if this is a stupid question, thanks

Relinking shouldn’t be terrible. If you use the Project consolidate features so everything is nice and in one spot for the transfer, the worst you should have to deal with is telling Premiere on Windows where the files are since Mac doesn’t store a drive letter in its paths. Pick one file it asks for and it will find the others recursively.
You may also have to wade through some “plugin missing” warnings depending on what effects are on your projects.
I haven’t tried CS4 > CS6 but Adobe is pretty good about backward compatibility (forward compatibility, not so much).
