  Premiere CC not joining long AVCHD clips

  i’ve done a little googling on this with no luck so far, but will keep trying. i have two 1-hour clips that are only showing the first few minutes in PP CC. i suppose i’ll go back to ClipWrap if nothing else works.

  Use the media browser tab to import them.

  Hi Tad,

  To expand on Tero’s suggestion, it is important that you copy the entire contents of the SD card over to a folder on your hard drive – not just the video clips, but all folders, as important data is nested in them.

  Then in Premiere, import using “Media Browser” rather than File > Import. This should result in you seeing one long, seamless clip in Premiere rather than the shorter pieces as found on the SD card itself.

  This is the preferred method for AVCHD

  Thanks Tero and Jeff. Ya, i normally do “cmd-import” and everything works fine, but with these long puppies it’s different. I’d never used the Media Browser before….i tried it over the weekend just dragging the clips (via MB) to a timeline, but i got the same results. This morning, it worked! Not sure what i did different. Thanks for the tip. So, it still seems i can’t drag a folder of clips from MB into the Project folder, but i can drag individual (or groups of) clips. Anyway to keep the folder structure intact for organization? I have several folders of clips to bring in.

  Use Prelude to ingest the media folders. It will keep everything intact for you.
