Premier v. Avid
When looking to buy my first editing software, should I chose Premier or Avid?
Are there any specific difficulties in importing graphics made with After Effects in Premier over Avid?

When talking about integration between After Effects and an editing program, Premiere blows the others away. Of course, this is due to the fact that Adobe creates both apps and can do some magic that other apps couldn’t.
Avid has a better reputation in “the industry,” though I’ve used both and I find that the most recent versions of Premiere can get the job done as well as any Avid.
If this is your first purchase and you’re already using AE, Premiere makes a lot of sense because you can buy the Production Premium, which has both apps and saves a fair amount of money rather than buying them separately. If you have dreams of editing in Hollywood some day, then Avid will be an important editing app to know. (But I predict that there will be more and more theatrical releases going through Premiere within the next four or five years.)
