Diving into PPro after switching from FCP. The only thing I’m having a problem with at the moment is external monitoring 1080p25 and 720p25 footage. Here’s what I’ve tried:

    1. Creating custom presets and export settings for various ProRes flavors and resolutions. When I start a new project and use say, 1080p25 as my sequence setting, I’ve no external monitoring. Under sequence settings > playback settings, there is no option to playback via Blackmagic. I read through Karl Soulé’s piece on this where he says it’s possible, but PPro is not “seeing” the card apparently and only gives me the standard set of options.

Yes, I updated the Blackmagic drivers after the CS5.5 install.

    2. Starting with a Blackmagic preset, I can then chose for example a ProRes sequence and I do get playback via Blackmagic but only using one of their sequence presets. Unfortunately, there is no 1080p25 or 720p25 set up. Their support suggest to use the 50i preset and simply change the timecode to 25fps and set the field dominance to progressive. If I do this, I lose external monitoring.

Has anyone found a solution for this, or is there a white paper out there that spells it all out in detail? I’ve been trying the better part of today to find something, but with no real success. External monitoring was not an issue in FCP, and to really start using PPro I need a solution.
