Greetings! I am new to the forum and new to Premiere, hence why I have to send out a SOS!

I have been editing in FCP for a long time, but due to an upcoming project, I have to quickly adapt to Premiere. The tools seem to be standard enough like FCP, but the stupidest thing is stopping me from moving forward!

Preview is not working in my preview and canvas for audio and video clips I have imported. When I hit the space bar, the “stop” icon will change to “play”, but the source file remain station to be in the first frame with no audio and the timeline indicator doesn’t run either.

These are the same footage I have been using in FCP, which runs fine, but Premiere is giving me the headache! Yalp!!!

I was having the same problem and after IT logged in as an administrator and Perian was updated everything works fine. IT did not do much, just logged in and ran Premier and that made it happy.

So, I really don’t know what fixed it. But mine works now.

I’m having the same issue on PPro CS6. Sometimes it plays, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s not choppy or anything it’s like the playback button stops working sometimes. I can scrub through footage just fine, rendered and unrendered.

Only solution I’ve been able to find is to close EVERY program on my computer, then just open Adobe, then I can start to open a couple other minor programs, but other CPU/RAM hungry programs tend to make PPro very unhappy.

That’s what I’ve been able to figure out so far. My blackmagic playback still doesn’t work right yet though.

SOLVED. Preferences > Audio Hardware > Select your audio device.
Mine changed after turning off my audio interface. Then I select it again in preferences, and magic happens 🙂
