  Rec for basic, simple in-house editing

  I need to advise a corporate client who wants to create short, simple, cuts-only videos of their employee events. (I create higher-end work for them.) They want to do this in-house, using video from Flips and cellphone videos from their employees all over the world.

  I am looking for appropriate editing software for them to try, for a test run. It has to be easy to use, by a person who is quite adept, but not a full-time video producer or editor. I was considering downloading a few trials, but I want to make sure I cover the bases. My short list was Premiere Pro, Premiere Elements, and Sony Vegas. I use Final Cut Pro myself, but this is a PC workplace, and I think FCP is inappropriate in any case.

  What would you recommend? There is a light version of Premiere, but also a myriad of other solutions out there.

  Premiere Pro and Elements wont let you edit mpeg based footage in their trialversion, alas. They do have a 30 day money-back garantee.

  Out of your short list, I’d probably go Vegas. Simplest? Can output to stuff you edit in. I think of adobe being more for pros. Even Vegas my be overkill.

  Thanks. I’ll look at Vegas. My list wasn’t meant to exclude anything else out there. The other consideration is that the client’s computer may not be that high-powered.
