  Conflicting recording size and output advice

  I have just finished watching a video made by blue crane digital. They seem to know what they are doing but then they gave some advice that contradicts what I have read several times elsewhere. In the video they recommended that to get maximum quality in your output you should record as near as possible to your desired output. I.e not super flat and bring it all back to how you want it in premiere and shoot at 1280 x 720 if that’s what you want to output don’t shoot at 1080 and down size as you loose quality they say. But I have read that shooting at 720 is much more prone to moire for example !?

  They even said that if you intend to shoot for DVD output only then shoot at 640 x 480 and then up scale the video to 720×480 ” Resizing video to a slightly larger format will not change the image quality ” they say?

  I had thought it was always better to shoot at max resolution super flat and apply the adjustments resize contrast sharpen saturation etc in post

  Can I have some opinions please.
