  • resize a layer under graphic layer

Posted by Kevin Ryan on November 29, 2010 at 6:33 pm

    Gentlemen,
I have a time line with 3 video layers.
1=background video, 2=lower third graphic, 3=title graphic. I want to adjust the position of layer 2 while watching in the program monitor. When I select layer 2 and try to resize or move it in the program monitor, layer 3 moves.
It appears that I can only adjust the topmost layer.
    What am I doing wrong?

You\’ve got a selection issue when working in the program monitor. If you select the clip in the timeline and then open the effects control panel you can open the motion tabs and scrub the hot text to move it. Also, I believe that if you click on the little box next to the word motion or just the word motion you will get handles for the layer and you should be able to move it in the program manager.

    Hope this helps

Thank you. That will save me a lot of time.
I have been using Liquid Edition for the past 10 years.
Our shop (6 edit bays)is now switching to Adobe CS4-CS5. I have come to really like Premiere. But it’s hard for an old dog to learn new tricks. Not knowing how to do the simple things is the biggest frustration when learning a new system. I check this forum and others at the Cow daily. It is an incredible resource.

    Hi Kevin

Don’t forget to check out the video tutorials for premiere pro, I have put quite a few up recently that you may find a help and I plan for many more over the coming months!

If you look at the tutorial on Pan and Zoom it will show the motion panel I mentioned and how to use it.
