HDV Formats
Hello all. I have a question regarding the format to use when starting a new project.
Software: Premiere Pro CS4
Camera: Sony Z1EI want to ensure the footage is at the maximum quality when I digitize it on to the computer however the last time I edited something was before the introduction of HDV. The final project needs to be optimized for viewing on the internet, burning to DVD and possible broadcast on UK television.
1) Does 1080i25 mean 1080 vertical lines, interlaced, 25 frames per second?
2) When starting a new project is 1080p25 the correct format to chose? The camera records in 1080i25 but I’ve been told 1080p is a better format. Is this true and if so will it matter that the footage was recorded interlaced but the project is progressive?
3) If I set the project to 1080p25 will CS4 convert the footage from interlaced to progressive as it is recorded in to the computer?
4) Are NTSC and PAL now obsolete or does HDV still require use of these for broadcast on US/Euro television?
Many thanks in advance for any answers.
