Encoding Failed

I’m at the end of a two-year project, a 1.7 hr training video. The authoring has been done in Encore cs4. I have rendered each of the 15 chapters then imported those onto a premiere timeline. THAT timeline was then sent to Encore where I built the menu structure and tested. It works as I want it to on the preview but when I go to burn the DVD image to file, it works for about 4 hours then says “encoding failed”.
I’m not using the timeline except to set my markers. When I do a “check project” it complains about having an orphaned timeline but I ignore and continue. I can’t imagine that would be a problem and I don’t know what would happen if I got rid of that timeline — plus i use it to set my poster frames for the chapter buttons.
Any ideas? I’m dead in the water right now.

I would get rid of the orphan timeline.
It means you have a timeline with no asset.
Then try again.
You could also render from Premiere and import into encore.
Make menu, link assets and burn.
I find when i change things in Encore to many time it gives errors.
Usually i start over with already rendered assets.

OK, I’ve been trying a number of tests with a small snippet just to see the whole process through to completion even with only a minute of content. Now I have another problem: using widescreen. But I’ll make another post with that as the title.
I’ll try your advice about rendering before importing if I can’t resolve it othwerwise. It’s being output to both blu ray and dvd so I was hoping to avoid two different versions.
