Rightclick on the clip in the timeline and select Reveal in Project.
Clip is now selected in the Project Window. Double click on this clip in the Project Window and it will open a fresh in the Source Monitor. Trim and ad to timeline.
In short: if you want more instances from one clip you need to open it from the Project Window.

No its not if you think it through.
If you double click on a clip in the timeline it opens in the Source Monitor. If you change in and out point of that clip in the Source monitor you also change the in and outpoint in the timeline.
If you want two sections of the same clip in the timeline you open from the Project Window and not the timeline.

    Hi Randy,

Hold the CTRL key down, and while holding it, grab the clip you want (whether from bin or another place in timeline) and drag it to the timeline spot where you want it, then release mouse. Clip will be placed at current position, and clips to the right will Ripple (move over to accommodate).

NOTE: On left of timeline, where you have VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, AUDIO 1, AUDIO 2 – make sure none are highlighted, or only the highlighted tracks will shift, this throws everything out of sync! If this happens, just CTRL-Z to UNDO, then try again.

Thanks for all the tips I havent edited on Premiere since V 6.5. Your right its not that bad and im getting very comfortable with Premiere CS5. I do have one issue/question though, I was editing a job I inserted some video from a clip no problem LATER in the project I wanted to take some other footage from that same clip but every time I tried the video inserted to the original part of the time line not where the cursor is now. Is that correct? or is there a setting I need to change? Bug?
