• Adobe Premiere Pro

  Lock-up EVERY time.

  Here are the specs to my machine:
  Dell Studio XPS 435T
  Intel Core i7 CPU
  12GB RAM
  64-bit
  NVIDIA GForce GTS 240

  I’m fine when using Adobe After Effects. It works great. But when I try
  to edit ANYTHING in Premiere Pro, it locks up within the first 3 minutes of working. It usually happens when I go to put an effect on the timeline.

  I have tried everything and I just cannot figure out how to get this thing to run smoothly. I make sure all my media files are on the other partitioned drive. I make sure to close all other programs. I don’t know what else to do.

  My 8-cores barely blip when I’m using the program, so I don’t think it’s a matter of taxing the system.

  Any help would be a godsend.

  Hi Gerry,

  What is your hard drive setup? All video clips should go to a separate physical drive, not on C: or a “partition” of C.

  What video format are you working with, and what is the Premiere project preset you are using?

  Is this CS5?

  Hi Jeff-

  I was working with AVCHD and .mts files. I rendered them down to various lower non-HD formats, thinking that might help. I rendered them as windows media, avi, QT, all still locked up.

  I am using Adobe CS4.

  Thanks for any advice.

  Gerry,

  Click on my name and follow my links on crashes. I had the same problem as you.

  All problems went away once I changed my video card to one of the approved cards.

  I have not had a lock up since.
