I think they use MPEG-4. On PC I always decompress video with AVS Video Converter, prior to import.

    Vince,
Rich Baim posted this question for me. I was a student in his video editing class and am very new to this. Are you saying you can take Flip video, (go to internet, download AVS video converter) then use the converter to convert the video to a format acceptable to Premier? Have you done this before? Thanks for your patience. Cathy

lol, I thought it was an odd question for Richard to be asking… 🙂

No, I have not done the conversion. I use AVS and it rarely fails me, and I’ve read threads where AVS is used for the conversion that you describe.
As far as moving the files to your computer, I can’t speak to that either.
I should probably also note that it is possible to edit MPEG-4, but I prefer to decompress everything but DV (I don’t work with HD, yet).

If you do develop a process, I’d love to see it outlined here.

Many thanks! I’ll try it and post the results.

I found (especially on MAC) I can trim the video (or leave it whole) in Picasa 3 (free from Google) and then EXPORT the video, and it imports into Premiere CS4 WITH sound.
    Good luck
