  Premiere 6.0 timeline playback question

  I’m just getting back into Premiere again after a long absence and have run across a big initial problem: I have no trouble capturing video in Premiere 6.0 but can’t playback from the timeline or play the clip back.

  I’m using an older vers. of Premiere (6.0) on a newer machine–Sony Viao P4 3Ghz, 1/2 gig of RAM with a Display adapter Intel 910GL Express Chipset.

  I’m guessing that either my video card is incompatible or I need a more recent vers. of Premiere, but if anyone knows of a fix I can try I would be most grateful. Many thanks in advance to anyone who can throw me a suggestion or two!

  What happens when you try to play back the timeline?

  If you’ve got your video camera plugged into the FireWire port, try unplugging that. Premiere defaults to sending the signal out the FireWire port. You can change that behavior in the project’s playback settings, or (more simply) you can turn off or unplug the camera.

  Thanks for the quick reply! When I try to playback the timeline, nothing happens except it might jump by a frame or two.

  I don’t get any playback from Premiere on the camera monitor, but I will try unplugging the camera entirely it to see if anything changes.

  I’ll post back here after I’ve tried that, thanks again! 🙂
