  export time

  When I “Export to DVD…” for the 1st time after opening PP2.0 it takes a while for it to render. However, if I render the same movie again it only takes a fraction of the time (about 10% of the time). Even if I change a few of the avi’s in the movie it is still much faster. I have a lot of movies I need to create and I only need to change a few avi’s from one to the next, and I was wondering if PP2.0 is storing the info for the export in the RAM, or if it’s in a tmp file, or something, somewhere that I can copy it and then paste it after I boot up the computer so I don’t have to wait so long for the first one to render.

  Premiere is caching the files in it’s scratch disc. You can define the scratch disk locations in the preferences. Keeping the cached files won’t really do you much good, though. Premiere will rebuild the cache files each time you re-open the project and export to DVD, and there’s no way to tell it to re-use old cache files.
