This is a really newbie question… I just opened Premiere for the first time today and i’m having problems cross dissolving between 2 still images. I’ve both images side by side in the timeline. So then i drag the cross-dissolve to underneath the images and spread it out between them. When i right click and go to transition settings i fiddle about with what I think is the right way but no result, just fades in and out to black. where am i going wrong?

What version of Premiere are you running?

It sounds like you’re using the A/B timeline editing mode. You need to put the first clip on track A and the second clip on track B. Have the clips overlap, and place the transition between them. (Aka, the “Transition Sandwich”.)

You can also have the first clip on track B and the second clip on Track A, but the point is that they have to be on different tracks and they have to overlap.
