Interpreted Fields as Progressive, Getting De-interlacing Artifacts
Hello, my footage is from a HF200 camcorder. I recorded using Progressive Based which is actually Progressive Segmented Frames a 60i.
I look around the internet and I had to Interpret the fields as Progressive because Adobe Premiere is confused since the container is 60i.
Howver, on closer inspection, I notice there is interlacing going on, on moving objects. Please look at this image as it is driving me nuts!
I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 6. This screen grab was taken from exported Cineform codec.
Please zoom in, and look at the face. Seems like I see interlacing.
** UPDATE ** I noticed this using Cineform Codec. When I sued Avid dnxhD, this I didn’t see it.
Are there any Cineform decoder settings to follow? I Have Cineform Decoder that Pops up with a red icon, and I use Windows Media Play Classic.

I believe its a certain cadence pulldown from 24 to get 60i.
is the advanced dv pulldown greyed out in premiere?do you have a mac or pc?

Hello, I am using a PC.
Also, I am not working in 24p. I Choose the 30p on my camcorder HF200.
As stated, Cineform gave me this problem, not DnxhD, haven’t tried h.264 yet.

that sounds like a bug if you didn’t change the field settings.
are you rendering fields off? -
All is set to progressive. Even in Export.
I rendered in Cineform > Then to H.264. Nothing showed in H.264. Must be in the decoder… But what……

ok, try rendering a few frames to DnxHD -> then to Cineform-> then finally to h.264.
DnxHD should delete interlacing rendered as progressive bugs.
This should isolate where the error occurs.
There’s a very small chance that cineform may be ignoring field settings.
Are you re-importing back into the same project sequence? Try a
whole new project file for reimporting as well. purge cache too just to be safe. -
I imported the new Cineform file as a new Project ofcourse.
I will clean the cache or purge as you might say.
Now the problem going from dnxHD to Cineform is it will degrade the picture more. Cineform is actually a better codec in my opinion than dnxHD.
So what you saw were interlaced frames? Not so visible but something didn’t look right.

yes, you are absolutely right about losing quality. This is a test for a bug.
Obviously if it works, render out a lossless 10 bit non-cineform, then cineform. I wouldn’t even call this a workaround at this juncture because in reality, no one has time to render out twice.
That’s why a new project and clearing cache might reveal more possible solutions.
If my concerns are founded, please file a bug report to adobe so that no one else gets frustrated.

Hello, I uninstalled Cineform Decoder in Controler Panel by searching for “Cine”, and now the problem is gone.
Can anyone explain?
I have Go Pro Studio installed. I don’t know which codecs from this are there

Now that I unstalled it. In Windows Media Player, it wont play Cineform now. Just audio.
Windows Media Player Classic does. I heard somewhere that Cineform doesn’t play in Windows Media Player. Can someone else chime in here?
