  hd quicktime files I can’t work in AE

  Someone… please help!!!!!!! I have the scratch files of a hd cam…. inside of Final Cut.. I must work with them in AE, but when I import them…. audio is recognized but the video is just a white screen…. how can I transfer from FC tu AE… by the way, I’m using AE 6.5

  6.5 won’t handle most HD CoDecs, not even HDV. You have to convert the bits you wanna use in AE to another format.

  What codec are the files? Open a quicktime file and get info on it and see what the compressor is. Then get that codec from a machine that has the codec installed, install it on your machine and you should be good to go.

  Look in your Hard Drive>Library>Quicktime folder for the codec on the FCp machine and option drag the codec from there to the desktop and transfer to your AE machine and drag it in the aforementioned quicktime folder on that machine.

  thank you guys… I think is time to upgrade to AE7… and also I`ll see the codec stuff that Jeremy said…

  AE is codec independent. I don’t think an AE upgrade will allow you to do more except work/process in different bit depths. If you have the codec on your AE machine you will be good.

  Are you working on a mac or PC? If on a PC, some codecs are not available like they are on a mac.

  In this case, you will have to convert them to a PC compliant codec. If on a mac, it’s a simple codec file transfer.
