    Greetings

    I’m having issues with importing a few clips into my project where I’m getting black bars on the left and right sides. The rest of the clips on the time line do not have this and when I import these same clips into other projects or sequences I don’t have this issue. Only in this one project for some reason. So I don’t think it’s an issue with the clips themselves or the sequence settings. Unless I’m missing something

    I’m pretty new to Premiere so let me know if you need any more info. I have to deliver the finished film this week so hoping someone can help.

    Thanks

    Sounds like those clips with the black pillars on the sides are a different frame size than the others and the timeline. For example putting a 640×480 (4×3) clip into a 1280×720 (16×9) sequence, Premiere will scale the clip while maintaining the 4×3 aspect ratio resulting in the space on the sides.

    Options include;

    – Leaving the black pillars on the sides

    – Fill in behind the clip on a lower track with a color/graphic or blurred and scaled up version of the clip behind it

    – -Scale the clip up to fill the frame

    all are acceptable treatments, it is a matter of design and taste.
