  Output settings for delivery

  I rec’d the following specs for uploading a video to a broadcast cable station:

  File settings:
  MPEG2
  4×3 (720 x 486)

  My video is native 1920×1080 at 23.976.and this is the first time I’ve output for broadcast in Premiere.

  What should my export settings be to achieve best quality? The 720×486 is throwing me off and the aspect ratio does not look good when I change it from square to 4:3.

  My current settings:
  Format: MPEG2 √
  Preset: Custom
  Width: 720
  Height: 405
  FR: 23.976
  pulldown: 2:3
  field order: progressive
  aspect ratio: usually square but changed it to 4:3 which looks awful.

  Thanks in advance. I sent a note to the station but have not heard back.

  You have two options. You can letterbox your video so they will see the full image or you can crop and lose the sides of the image. SD is not square pixel; the PAR is .91 (rectangular).

  It is peculiar they are only specifying an SD format. I would ask if they have any HD options.
