  Premiere Pro CC Photo Slideshow

  Hi all.
  Hope someone can help.
  I have raw photos from a DSLR. I will convert them to JPEGS.
  I plan to make a video file and play it on a widescreen HD tv.
  I need to know what sequence settings I should select before creation.
  I also need to know what output settings I need to select when the project is complete.

  Some information online mentions h.264.

  I am a bit confused and want to do it right.

  Hi…

  how sophisticated do you want to get with this?

  there are a ton of templates available from sources like

  Pond5.com

  for slide shows that work great in After Effects.

  Might be worth a look.

  I’d also consider batch processing the images to a more video friendly resolution as raws from DSLR can be many more pixels (Width x Height) than HD video.

  I will be processing the raw files and saving them as jpegs.
  I just want to use premiere for a simple slideshow with fades and titles.
  I don’t want to get too fancy at this moment.
  I want to get to grips with premiere first.

  Just need general help with sequence settings, and output settings to a UK HD widescreen TV.

  Any help with the preset issue would be really helpful as this is the only hurdle for me.
  I know how to edit, add effects, etc
  It’s just what preset to use to output a photo slideshow and video project.
  Also what sequence settings to use for a photo slideshow and video project.

  I have looked online and most information is about posting to youtube, but i want to output to a file that will be put onto a hard drive, which is attached to a large widescreen HD TV.

  Hi Russel…

  I’m not as familiar with European Standards…..So that’s why I had not chimed in….

  But essentially you want to choose an HDTV sequence.

  I’d guess a 1080 preset running at an appropriate frame rate.

  the fact that it’s a slide show really makes no difference. in this way of working you will still be creating a video file at the end of the day.

  What output settings should i use? I have seen online that most people suggest using h.264.
  Is that ok to use?
  There are so many types, im not sure what is the best.

  Hi Russell

  H264 is generally what we use for our deliverables.

  small footprint, good quality, generally compatible.

  I guess it would be helpful to know what the playback device would accept and work from there.

  I guess the tv’s play most types, although 1 tv doesn’t like mkv so id like to stay away from that, just in case.
  H264 sounds like a good choice.
  I will try out your suggestions.
