  ARRIRAW footage loading slowly into Premiere CC

  Hi there,

  I’ve just been given seven cards of ARRI RAW footage and each folder containing 21 takes inside. Each take is taking about an hour to import into Premiere Pro so I’ve started converting the ARRIRAW to DPX so I can import that image sequence. However, the transcode to DPX is also taking 3 hours per folder meaning I’m looking at 10+ hours of transcode.

  Essentially we’ve lost a whole day because this process is taking so long. The computer I’m working off of is a OSX Yosemite Macbook Pro Retina, 15inch Late 2013. It has 16GB memory with a NVIDIA 750M 2048MB Graphics Card.

  Is the reason this is taking so long because of my computer? Is there another way I should be transcoding or transferring the ARRIRAW?

  Where is the footage stored?

  Hi Tero,

  The footage is stored on a G-Technology G-DRIVE 2TB USB 3.0 & FireWire 800 Desktop Hard Drive

  Get a RAID.
