  How to create a sequence DIRECTLY from clip in source monitor

  I have a long video source file. I have to take 5 second excerpts (in and out points) from it throughout the file. After setting each in and out point is there a way to automatically have a new sequence created with that source clip and then I can move on to the next one?

  Or am I required to first create all my sequences and then insert each clip into the respective sequence?

  Thanks for any ideas on how to make this fast and easy.

  Hi

  if you create in and out points on a clip in the source viewer…

  those are the in and out that currently reflected in the clip in the project panel….

  so you set your in and out..

  then drag the clip in the project panel to the new item icon (lower right of project panel)…

  and a new sequence will be created using the clip with your current markings.

  might want to rename it slightly as it will reflect the clip name in the sequence name….

  It works like a charm.

  I have a couple questions on an earlier post you responded with great advice. so as to not confuse I will resend that query to you at that post.

  I hope you can explain on your instruction… got most of it and trying it now.

  Load the clip in Prelude and mark all the parts you want as subclips with unique names. Send the subs to PPro and make sequences from each one. Bummer you can’t do multiples or create a hotkey for “Make New Sequence From Clip” but it’s probably the best way to keep the sequences organized.
