  video not playing

  I’m a new to Premiere Pro. I just downloaded CS6 and it installed without a problem. I loaded a few test HD video clips. I can see the video in both the viewer and the canvas. When I attempt to play, the system will only play about 1-2 seconds of a clip. Same results from the timeline or the viewer. The clips reside on a external Gtech connected via FW800.I also made a sequence with bars and tone and had the same results Any insight?
