Timecode not matching?
Posted by Ben Allan on March 12, 2015 at 1:14 amSo maybe this is a silly but surely something is a miss here.
My video was encoded fine from Squeeze with timecode (see fig 1) As you can see in quicktime the codes match up with the time fine.
When i go to the same place in Premiere (fig 2) it goes out? Why is this and how can i fix it?Yes the frame rates are the same 23.97. This matches the sequence.

March 12, 2015 at 3:06 amHi Ben,
Is the footage interpreted correctly? You can check the interpret settings by right clicking on the clip in the project panel.

March 12, 2015 at 3:26 amhmm, it also looks like the difference is close to what a drop frame vs non drop would give you. You might want to look those settings throughout your workflow.

March 12, 2015 at 3:33 amOK thanks for your help. it was actually done in Fcp 7 (not my choice). Then encoded for the sound mix and composer. Now the director is matching it up like this in premiere and finding this problem. It’s only one file in premiere and the timecode matches fine up to this point?

March 12, 2015 at 3:36 amIs there a way to check for dropped frames? I’ve not come across it in Premiere sorry?

March 12, 2015 at 3:42 amYou can right click on the timecode to change it from drop to non drop and see if that helps. If you drag the footage to the new sequence icon in the project panel it should create a new sequence with the correct settings.

March 12, 2015 at 3:52 amyup that’s how i made it.
The dropped frames at 30fps didn’t seem to do anything either. Sorry i don’t mean to shoot down everything your suggesting, i’m trying it all out i promise 🙂 -

I think it wouldn’t if your footage is 23,976. For some reason the source panel in our Premiere is showing a drop frame timecode which can be easily seen by the ;-marks in the timecode and the program panel is non-drop frame. You should probably double check your footage and sequence.
